Well, I did it! I finished my 8 days of Real Estate (which was really 12 days, counting weekends.) At the beginning it seemed like the end would never come, but time keeps on going whether we like it or not! In this case, the end of my class was a welcome sight. I passed my general exam with an A and my law exam with a B. Go me! Now I have to set up a time to take my state licensing exam. It’s a good thing, but it means more studying, which I’m not all that thrilled about.
Unfortunately the day before my class ended I got word that my Grandma was very ill, so right after class ended I drove the 5.5 hours back home. The next day I drove the 4.5 hours to my Grandmother’s house to be with her. I’m lucky in that I was able to spend a solid 6 hours with her that evening into night. She passed about 5 hours later, very early in the morning. I don’t feel that sad in her death – not because I won’t miss her – but because she was sick for a very long time and was in a lot of pain especially the week beforehand. I’ve been helping my stepdad and uncle arrange her memorial service in the meantime. I honestly had no idea how expensive death was! There are many costs that come with trying to provide a nice send-off to comfort your relatives and friends. Even more than ever, I’ve come to the realization that any sort of memorial/funeral really isn’t for the person who has died. It is most definitely for the loved ones left behind.
Her memorial will be on Monday and I’m convinced that it will be a beautiful event. A beautiful event for a beautiful person, which I think is sort of fitting.
